Trail Cat The Race begins 466 km ultramarathon from Andorra to Tarragona

The fifth edition of Trail Cat The Race has commenced in Andorra la Vella, marking the start of a 466-kilometer ultramarathon. The race features 51 participants from 13 different countries and involves 17,800 meters of positive elevation gain.

The route traverses Andorra, France, and Catalonia, eventually concluding in Tarragona, Spain. Because the course is unmarked, runners must rely on official GPS tracks and self-navigation to reach established checkpoints. The competition emphasizes autonomy, requiring athletes to manage their own nutrition and rest periods using three life bases and four light assistance points.

In the early stages of the race, Switzerland’s Simon Birrer held the lead, followed by Eugeni Rosselló Solé and Croatia’s Daniel Krstulovic Opara. In the women’s category, Harriet Kjaer and Justine Houteer Magni were in a close competition. The event also includes shorter 25-mile and 50-mile races, which are scheduled to finish in Tarragona on October 17.
