Train derailment near Obernai disrupts rail traffic in Alsace

A TER Fluo Grand Est train derailed near the Obernai station on Monday, November 2, shortly before noon. The incident occurred at low speed and resulted in no injuries, but it has caused significant disruptions to the Strasbourg-Sélestat line via Molsheim.

SNCF has announced that rail traffic is not expected to return to normal until the morning of Saturday, November 7. The delay is due to the ongoing investigation and the necessary repairs to two tracks that were damaged over several dozen meters north of the station. Crews must first clear the derailed train from the tracks before repair work can begin.

While some service has partially resumed north and south of Obernai, the section between Rosheim and Barr remains closed. This closure affects the stations of Bischoffsheim, Goxwiller, and Gertwiller. Replacement buses have been implemented to assist travelers during the closure.
