Train derailments reported in Argentina and New Mexico
Separate train derailments have been reported in Argentina and the United States.
In Argentina, seven wagons of a Trenes Argentinos formation derailed near Recreo, in the La Paz department, at kilometer 962. The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m., involving a train transporting state goods and merchandise. No injuries have been reported. The local prosecutor's office, led by Jorgelina Sobh, has opened an investigation to determine the causes of the accident.
In the United States, a Union Pacific freight train derailed near Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Approximately 30 wagons left the tracks near a golf course about two miles east of the town. Union Pacific confirmed that the crew was not injured. Authorities are investigating the cause and assessing potential damage to infrastructure. It is currently unclear if any hazardous materials were being transported.
