Trainee IPS Officer Uday Krishna Reddy Placed in Police Custody Over Sexual Assault Allegations
A court in Telangana granted police two days of custody to trainee Indian Police Service officer M. Uday Krishna Reddy for interrogation in a case involving alleged sexual assault, criminal intimidation, blackmail and attempted murder of a fellow trainee at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad. Police had sought a seven‑day police custody period, but the magistrate limited it to two days. Reddy had previously been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody on July 29 and was held at Chanchalguda Central Prison.
The complaint was filed on July 18 after the victim, a fellow trainee, reported that the two had met via Instagram in mid‑2025, entered a relationship, and that Reddy later threatened to release private chats, displayed weapons, created fake social‑media accounts and continued harassment after the relationship ended and the victim married. The investigation is being handled by the Women Safety Wing of the Hyderabad police, headed by DCP Dr. Lavanya Naik, with additional inquiries into abusive videos and financial transactions.
