Traiskirchen firefighters rescue fish from drying Mühlbach
Emergency services and fishing experts rescued numerous fish from the Mühlbach in Traiskirchen, Lower Austria, following reports of extreme low water levels caused by prolonged drought.
A local resident alerted the fire department after discovering fish struggling to survive in shrinking pools within the nearly dry riverbed. The Traiskirchen-Stadt Volunteer Fire Department responded by pumping thousands of liters of fresh water into the affected area to increase water levels and improve oxygen supply.
While some fish could not be saved, the collaboration between the fire department and the local fishing association allowed many animals to be successfully relocated. The incident highlights the increasing impact of persistent dry weather on regional waterways in Lower Austria.
