Trakia Economic Zone sees surge in industrial investment
The Trakia Economic Zone near Plovdiv is experiencing a significant investment surge, with nine new factories currently under construction. This wave includes expansions of existing facilities and entirely new industrial projects. Key international investors include the Japanese packaging company Tri-Wall, the Chinese firm Zes Yu, and Huashuo, which is establishing a green energy development center. Established companies such as Schneider Electric, Liebherr, Odelo, BTL Industries, and Milara International are also investing tens of millions of euros into the region.
These collective projects are expected to create 1,960 new jobs, supplementing the zone's existing workforce of 71,000. This industrial growth is driving demand for highly skilled labor and supporting low unemployment rates in the area.
In a specific local development, Advant Medical Care is investing 7 million euros to build a medical device factory in the Maritsa Industrial Zone near Tsarovo. The facility will produce saline solutions and medical consumables, such as vacuum blood collection tubes, using automated and robotic production lines. The project is expected to create 35 jobs and serve markets in Bulgaria, the European Union, and Serbia, with full production capacity targeted for 2029.
