Trakya border gates record 3.7 million passenger movements

Since June 22, approximately 3.7 million passengers and 1 million vehicles have entered or exited through border gates in the Trakya region. Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer reported that the seasonal movement of expatriates returning to their countries of residence in Europe is ongoing.

Sezer noted that coordination with Bulgarian authorities has helped reduce average waiting times from 39 minutes last year to 27 minutes this year. An estimated 60,000 more people are expected to depart Turkey within the next 10 days. Additionally, a record for daily vehicle departures over the last three years was recently broken at the Kapıkule Border Gate.
