Athens Tram implements new schedule with increased frequency

A new, reinforced tram schedule has been implemented in Athens as of Monday, September 7, aimed at improving passenger service and reducing waiting times. The update increases the number of active trams from 23 to 27 and includes the hiring of new drivers to support the expanded service.

On Line 6 (Syntagma – Pikrodaphni), frequency is increased during peak hours. In the morning (07:30–10:30), the number of trams increases from 10 to 12, reducing intervals from 9 minutes to 7.5 minutes. In the afternoon (15:30–18:30), one additional tram will run, reducing intervals from 9 minutes to 8 minutes and 10 seconds. Total daily trips on this line will rise from 232 to 244.

On Line 7 (Asklepieio Voula – Akti Poseidonou), specifically the section between Asklepieio Voula and SEF, two additional trams have been deployed. This reduces the average waiting time from 12 minutes to 9 minutes and 50 seconds during both morning and afternoon peak periods. Daily trips on Line 7 will increase from 189 to 205.
