Trance music experiences resurgence led by Tiësto rebrand
Trance music is experiencing a resurgence, potentially bolstered by a merger with the declining melodic techno trend. Following a decline after its ‘Golden Era’ between 2010 and 2015, the genre is seeing a shift in momentum.
During its peak, trance was closely associated with progressive house and featured prominent artists such as Armin van Buuren, Dash Berlin, and Gareth Emery. The genre's popularity waned around 2015 as the industry shifted toward ‘Future House’ and big room sounds, leading many trance artists to move away from the genre.
Leading the revival is Tiësto, who announced a complete rebrand in November 2025. This included ending his ‘Club Life’ radio show and launching Prismatic, a new label focused on trance and techno.
