Trani hosts events on prison reform and medicinal cannabis

The city of Trani is hosting a series of events on September 8 to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the passing of radical leader Marco Pannella. The initiative focuses on the theme of the prison community and includes visits to both the male and female correctional facilities in Trani to observe living conditions.

A public debate titled ‘The prison community: the prison according to Pannella’ will be held at the municipal library. The discussion will feature representatives from Nessuno tocchi Caino, the Trani Bar Association, and the Puglia Region prisoner ombudsman to address the current state of the penal system.

Separately, Trani will host a meeting on September 14 regarding medicinal cannabis. The event, part of the ‘Dialoghi di Trani’ series, aims to address challenges in the Italian medicinal cannabis sector, specifically regarding production continuity and the current reliance on foreign imports versus domestic production at the Florence Military Pharmaceutical Chemical Plant.
