Trani postpones via De Robertis level crossing pedestrian closure
The pedestrian closure of the via De Robertis level crossing in the Stadio district of Trani has been postponed by one month. Following a meeting at the BAT Prefecture between the Municipality of Trani and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), the closure—originally scheduled for August 31—will now take effect on September 28.
This extension aims to allow residents, students, and local businesses to navigate the month of September more easily while construction continues on external areas. Public Works Councilor Nicola Di Pinto stated that the additional month will serve as a period to fine-tune alternative mobility solutions, such as shuttle services, based on actual population needs.
Work will continue on the pedestrian underpass connecting via Verdi and via Falcone, which will be equipped with lighting and video surveillance to improve safety. The project to eliminate the level crossing and construct a railway underpass involves approximately 9 million euros in funding, supplemented by contributions from the Municipality of Trani.
