The trans‑focused direct‑action group BASH BACK issued a strong rebuttal to an opinion piece published in The Times by Lord Walney (John Woodcock). In his column, Woodcock called for the proscription of BASH BACK as a terrorist organization, likening it to groups such as Palestine Action and Just Stop Oil. The group condemned the proposal as “authoritarian right paranoia” aimed at protecting property, ideology and profit, and reaffirmed its commitment to non‑violent action.

BASH BACK also highlighted the recent murder of Ann Widdecombe, noting that Woodcock had previously criticized the group for not removing a graphic image from its website. The statement underscored the group’s stance against any legislation that would criminalise direct‑action groups based on alleged “systematic criminal disturbance.”
