Trans football inclusion project celebrates LGBTQ+ Pride in Brasília

Physical‑education teacher Loeh da Silva Araújo, a 32‑year‑old trans man, leads the “Instituto Menines Bons de Bola”, a football program that brings together trans women and men in public spaces of Brazil’s Federal District. The project meets on Thursdays and Sundays, has attracted about 150 participants and aims to improve mental health, provide visibility and counter daily exclusion.

On 28 June 2026, during the city’s LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations in central Brasília, Loeh promoted the initiative, emphasizing that it is “more than football – we talk, unite, care for our mental health and no longer feel alone.” Participants such as 24‑year‑old shopkeeper Mayura Kali and 25‑year‑old artisan‑bartender Lilith Lunar highlighted how football helps them cope with difficult daily life.

The program also features Daymon Luiz, a 27‑year‑old bartender and parent, who spoke about bringing his three‑year‑old daughter to the activities and teaching her about diversity. The project enforces rules against jokes or nicknames that could be harmful, aiming to create safe, constructive spaces on the field.
