Trans Guyana Airways to launch flights to French Guiana
Guyana and France have signed a modernized air services agreement to replace a bilateral framework that has been in place since 1976. The new agreement, signed by Guyana’s Aviation Minister Deodat Indar and French Ambassador Olivier Plançon, establishes a contemporary framework for passenger and cargo carriage, including opportunities for code-sharing and commercial cooperation.
Trans Guyana Airways (TGA) has been designated by the Guyanese government to operate scheduled services under this agreement. The airline is currently preparing regulatory and administrative requirements to launch at least two weekly non-stop flights between Georgetown and Cayenne.
These flights are expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two locations from up to 24 hours via surface connections to approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. The airline noted that the new route could enhance connectivity to the French Caribbean and Europe through onward connections with carriers such as Air France, while stimulating regional tourism, business travel, and investment.
