Trans Nzoia suspect arrested for fatal assault of farmhand

A 21-year-old man, Samuel Kemboi, has been arrested in Trans Nzoia County following the fatal assault of a farmhand. According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the incident occurred on August 24, 2026, in Tawai village.

The victim, 22-year-old Stephen Ndungu, had been employed as a farmhand for only one day prior to the incident. Investigators report that a confrontation broke out between Kemboi and Ndungu over a mobile phone, which escalated into a physical fight. Ndungu allegedly sustained several heavy blows and died at the scene.

Detectives from Kiminini Sub-County, supported by Kiungani police and members of the public, apprehended Kemboi after a chase. The deceased's body has been moved to the Kiminini Cottage Mortuary for a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
