Trans Woman Cristel Soto Landa Found Dead Inside Misantla Bar La Vicenta
On July 26, 2026, the body of a 32‑year‑old transgender woman, Cristel Soto Landa, was discovered inside the La Vicenta bar in the Benito Juárez neighborhood of Misantla, Veracruz, Mexico. Known locally as “La Rabiosa” and originally from the La Vigueta community, she worked as a waitress at the bar and also assisted a local fashion designer.
Emergency responders, municipal police, state security forces, and forensic investigators secured the scene. The victim was found suspended from a rope near the upper part of the establishment. The body was later transferred to the forensic medical service, and the State Attorney General's Office opened a homicide investigation. No official cause of death has been released pending autopsy results.
The death prompted condolences from family, friends, and members of the LGBT community. The civil organization Manos en Rosa publicly mourned Soto Landa and called for continued fight against discrimination and violence toward the LGBT population.
