TRANSCO receives 30 new buses to expand Kinshasa transport

TRANSCO, the state-owned public transport operator in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, has received 30 new Mercedes-Benz buses in Kinshasa. This delivery, made on August 25, 2026, is part of a broader partnership with local vehicle assembler Suprême Automobile to acquire a total of 230 vehicles. To date, 180 buses have been delivered under this program.

The new units are expected to enter service within 48 hours of receipt to help meet high demand for collective transport in Kinshasa. The expansion aims to reduce reliance on private operators and improve urban mobility. Beyond increasing the fleet, TRANSCO is working to digitize its operations and management tools. The operator is also considering the acquisition of minibuses to serve secondary lines and is exploring potential partnerships to further extend transport coverage to underserved provinces.
