Transdev faces SP criticism over migrant bus drivers in Utrecht
Socialist Party (SP) faction chair Jan Breur has demanded answers from the provincial government about Transdev’s handling of the Utrecht bus service. The concessionaire relies on migrant drivers hired through a temporary‑employment agency, many of whom receive little or no training and are housed by the agency. Breur warned that this practice endangers drivers, passengers and other road users. He asked for written questions on the drivers’ training, housing conditions and the process by which they may become permanent employees after a year, including whether Transdev will assume responsibility for them.
The SP also wants clarification on the costs and living arrangements imposed on the temporary workers and how the situation will be managed once the one‑year trial ends.
