Transedel Livestock Carriers operators face court over $300,000 unpaid redundancy

The Fair Work Ombudsman has initiated legal action against the former operators of Transedel Livestock Carriers, alleging that 23 employees were owed nearly $300,000 in redundancy and termination entitlements. The company, operating as TLCP Vic Pty Ltd, provided livestock transport services in Albury, Pakenham, and Maffra before ceasing operations in 2024.

According to the regulator, a manager allegedly sent employees a text message in January 2024 stating the business had stopped trading and instructing them to return all trucks and trailers within 24 hours. The unpaid amounts, which range from $704 to $19,795 per person, affect 21 long-distance truck drivers, a mechanic, and an administrative worker.

Director Lachlan Stuart Wigg and manager Patrick Martin Gray face court proceedings for alleged breaches of the National Employment Standards. The Ombudsman also alleges the company failed to comply with a March 2025 compliance notice intended to rectify the underpayments. A directions hearing is scheduled for August 13 in the Federal Circuit and Family Court in Melbourne.
