Transformers: The Movie 40th anniversary screenings hit US box office

The 40th anniversary theatrical screenings of the 1986 animated film ‘Transformers: The Movie’ have achieved significant commercial success in the United States. During its initial run starting September 17, the film ranked second in daily box office revenue and seventh in weekend earnings, grossing over $3.1 million during its opening weekend.

Following this success and high demand from fans, the Japanese theatrical release, scheduled for November 27, 2026, has been expanded. Originally planned for 30 theaters, the screening locations in Japan will increase to 60 nationwide, including 38 Lawson United Cinemas locations. This marks the first time the film will have a theatrical release in Japan.

The Japanese screenings will feature updated 4K visuals paired with the original 1989 Japanese dubbed audio. Pre-sale tickets featuring commemorative merchandise are currently available for the upcoming release.
