Transformers: The Movie re-release earns $4.2 million in four days
The 40th-anniversary limited theatrical re-release of the 1986 animated film “The Transformers: The Movie” has achieved significant box office success in the United States. In its first four days of release, the film earned an estimated between $4.15 million and $4.2 million, ranking eighth at the North American box office for the weekend ending September 20, 2026.
This recent performance is notable when compared to the film’s original 1986 theatrical run, which earned approximately $5.8 million domestically. The four-day re-release total represents roughly 71% of the original film’s entire domestic gross. The re-release, presented by Fathom Events in partnership with Hasbro, features a new 4K restoration and was screened across 1,454 North American locations.
The success highlights a strong nostalgic demand for the original 1980s franchise content. The theatrical run is scheduled to continue in select United States cinemas through October 8, 2026.
