Transgaz advances gas infrastructure projects in Romania

In Romania, local administrations and Transgaz are advancing various natural gas infrastructure projects. In the Mehadia, Topleț, and Băile Herculane region, an inter-community development association (ADI) is working to connect residents to the gas network following Transgaz's progress on the Prunișor-Orșova-Băile Herculane-Jupa pipeline.

The project in this region faces significant funding challenges. While 31 million lei (approximately 6 million euros) has been approved through the Anghel Saligny program, this covers only about one-fifth of the estimated 150 million lei required. Consequently, the feasibility study has been remodeled to prioritize main street pipelines over individual household connections and certain villages to stay within budget.

Separately, in the commune of Cristian, the local administration is investing approximately 793,000 lei to protect a Transgaz natural gas transport pipeline. The project involves installing a 112-meter metal protective sleeve near a roundabout on Nicolae Iorga Street. This measure aims to safeguard the DN 150 pipeline from potential damage caused by rapid residential development and road infrastructure expansion in the area.
