Transhome building fire in Sleman kills two people

A major fire broke out at the Transhome building on the Yogyakarta-Solo highway in Berbah, Sleman, on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The blaze destroyed the three-story structure and its basement, resulting in the deaths of two women, aged 42 and 20. Several other individuals sustained injuries and required hospital treatment.

Material losses are estimated to reach tens of billions of rupiah, including building contents and employee motorcycles. Emergency responders, including firefighters, police, Basarnas, and medical teams, were deployed to manage the scene and conduct cooling operations.

To facilitate emergency vehicles, Polresta Sleman implemented traffic diversions, including contraflow lanes and diversions at the Prambanan Three-Way Intersection toward the Piyungan-Prambanan road. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire through CCTV footage and witness testimonies.
