Transit infrastructure updates: Barcelona station reopens while Acilia platform faces issues

Infrastructure projects in European transit networks have seen mixed results following recent completions. In Barcelona, the connection corridor at Catalunya station has reopened after a two-month closure. The €1.2 million renovation focused on the interchange between the L1 and L3 metro lines, involving structural work, new coatings, and the removal of asbestos. The corridor serves approximately 43,000 passengers daily.

In contrast, the reopening of the Acilia station platform on the Metromare line has faced criticism. Despite recent structural modernization and waterproofing works intended to prevent leaks, commuters reported significant water accumulation on the platform during recent rainfall. The Acilia project included renovations to the lobby, flooring, ceilings, and station terraces, but the Comitato Pendolari della Roma-Lido has raised formal complaints regarding the effectiveness of the waterproofing.
