TransLink launches new bus route to Gloucester Industrial Area

TransLink has announced the launch of the 556 community shuttle, a new bus route connecting Langley City to the Gloucester Industrial Area in Aldergrove. Scheduled to begin operations on September 7, the service is launching a full year ahead of its original timeline as part of TransLink’s 2025 Investment Plan.

The route will include 12 new bus stops within the Gloucester Industrial Area and will operate Monday through Friday. Service is scheduled every 30 minutes during morning and afternoon peak periods. Specific hours include service to Gloucester from 5:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., while service to Langley Centre will run from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The new transit connection is expected to support more than 7,500 jobs over the next decade. The Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce noted that the improved access addresses long-standing difficulties for employers in recruiting and retaining staff and provides essential mobility for employees without personal vehicles.
