Bogotá transit and culture: TransMilenio station reopens and BTS concert preparations begin

Bogotá is experiencing significant developments in both public infrastructure and cultural activity. TransMilenio has officially reopened the renovated Patio Bonito station in the Kennedy district. Led by the Instituto de Desarrollo Urbano (IDU), the reconstruction included new wagons with floor-to-ceiling access barriers, updated public spaces, and improved utility networks. This station serves over 13,000 daily users and is part of a broader strategy to support the upcoming Bogotá Metro Line 1. Additionally, TransMilenio is expanding its role as an urban operator through the ‘TransMi Construye Ciudad’ initiative, which aims to integrate social housing and commercial services near major transit nodes to promote sustainable urban growth.

Simultaneously, the city is preparing for the BTS ‘ARIRANG’ world tour at El Campín Stadium on October 2 and 3. To accommodate the expected crowds, TransMilenio has announced special transit operations, including eight dedicated routes starting at 10:00 p.m. to facilitate travel from the stadium and Movistar Arena to various city portals. The group’s popularity in Colombia is reflected in Spotify data, which shows a 300 percent increase in group consumption over the last three years, with local streaming peaks reaching six times the usual volume.
