TransMilenio rolls out safety alert buttons and announces station closures in Bogotá
TransMilenio is installing community‑driven safety alert buttons at the Minuto de Dios station in the Engativá district. General manager María Fernanda Ortiz said three pilot devices will allow rapid response to security incidents and gender‑based violence, with plans to place about 40 similar buttons at other stations.
At the same time, the carrier announced temporary operational changes at the Avenida 39 station. Access from the south side and two of the three platform wagons will be closed until 8 July 2026 to allow technical upgrades. Alternate routes and additional stops – such as temporary service at the Calle 26 – Atrio station – are being provided to limit passenger disruption. Users are urged to consult the TransMiApp for real‑time updates.
