TransNamib train and vehicle involved in Swakopmund level crossing incident

TransNamib confirmed that a light motor vehicle and one of its trains were involved in an incident at a level crossing in Swakopmund at approximately 00:45 on 26 June 2026.

Swakopmund Municipality ambulance personnel assessed the occupants of the vehicle and the train driver. All individuals were reported safe with no visible injuries and were discharged from the state hospital following further assessment.

A full investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances of the incident and ensure adherence to safety protocols. TransNamib CEO Desmond van Jaarsveld urged road users to observe traffic regulations at railway level crossings.
