Transnistria begins electoral campaign for de facto leadership

The de facto administration in the Transnistria region has officially launched its electoral campaign for the leadership position. The vote is scheduled to take place on December 13. According to the regional central election commission, candidates may be nominated by labor collectives, public organizations, or political parties, and independent candidacies are also permitted.

To register, candidates must collect between 2% and 3% of the total signatures from approximately 391,494 registered voters, amounting to roughly 7,800 to 11,700 signatures. The deadline for submitting subscription lists and necessary documentation is November 12, with candidate registration concluding on November 21.

The regional budget has allocated 15.4 million rubles, approximately $956,000, to organize the scrutiny. Current leader Vadim Krasnoselski has stated he does not intend to seek a third term, noting, “I am for the change of power. I have said it many times: ‘Two mandates, that is it.’” Vitalie Neagu, the de facto vice president, has been mentioned as a potential successor, though official candidacies have not yet been formally announced.
