Transnistria extends economic state of emergency until September 12

The economic state of emergency in the Transnistrian region has been extended until September 12, 2026. The decision was made via a decree signed by Vadim Krasnoselski during an extraordinary session of the so-called Supreme Soviet in Tiraspol.

Authorities cite ongoing economic difficulties, specifically the reduction in natural gas delivery volumes, as the reason for maintaining the emergency regime. This mechanism, originally introduced in December 2024, has been repeatedly extended to manage the region's fiscal challenges.

Due to the crisis, a special mechanism remains in place for public sector salary payments, which are distributed in two installments. Economic experts note that the region has faced significant instability, with GDP per capita in Transnistria falling significantly behind that of the rest of Moldova.
