Transnistria prolongs economic emergency for another month

The unrecognized authorities of the Transnistrian region announced a 30‑day extension of the special economic emergency regime. The decree, signed by Vadim Krasnoselski, the self‑styled president of Tiraspol, was approved by the so‑called Soviet Supreme and took effect six hours after publication.

The administration says the measure is required because of a sharp drop in industrial production and a severe economic crisis. The extended regime will let officials implement rapid anti‑crisis actions, such as rational use of energy resources, limiting energy exports, and prioritising financial resources for health, transport and the distribution of natural gas and other fuels throughout the territory.

The emergency state was first introduced in December 2024 after a risk of gas supply disruption and has been repeatedly renewed following the January 2025 energy crisis and a further aggravation in March 2026 when gas deliveries were again affected. Officials note that reduced gas deliveries to Europe, caused by the Middle‑East conflict, have also impacted Transnistria, which now receives gas from the European side after the cessation of transit through Ukraine.
