Transnistria settlement talks held in Tiraspol amid drone incidents

Political representatives from Chișinău and Tiraspol met in Tiraspol on September 24 for a new round of negotiations regarding the Transnistrian settlement. The meeting was mediated by Christopher W. Smith, the head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.

During the discussions, Chișinău requested the restitution of high school buildings located in Râbnița and Grigoriopol. The talks occurred amid security concerns following reports of drone activity in the region. A drone reportedly crashed and exploded near Camenca in the Transnistrian region, while another fell near Cernița in the Florești district.

Vitali Ignatiev, the purported Foreign Minister from Tiraspol, stated that the issue of protecting the population from fallen Russian drones does not fall within his competence as a political negotiator. He also addressed the terminology used by journalists, requesting the use of constructive language regarding the region's status.
