Transnistria to use Russian history textbooks in Ukrainian-language schools

More than 400 students in Ukrainian-language schools within the Transnistria region are set to study Ukrainian history using textbooks developed in Russia. According to a report by Promo-Lex, this move is part of a broader process of Russification and indoctrination aimed at justifying Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The new textbooks, written and printed in Russia, reportedly refer to the invasion as a “special military operation,” describe occupied Ukrainian territories as “new regions” of Russia, and label Ukraine a “neo-Nazi state.” Separatist authorities in the region have rejected Ukrainian textbooks on “ideological grounds” and are preparing Ukrainian translations of materials produced with the involvement of Vladimir Medinski, an advisor to Vladimir Putin.

Representatives from the Bureau for Reintegration have described the situation as “very grave,” noting that it demonstrates the propaganda efforts of Tiraspol. Legal experts have called for this issue to be prioritized in 1+1 format meetings to prevent the promotion of militaristic narratives and military education among students.
