Transnistrian Representative Refuses Moldova Talks Over Security Claims
Vitalii Ignatiev, the political representative of Tiraspol, declined an invitation from Moldova’s vice‑premier for Reintegration, Valeriu Chiveri, to travel to Chișinău for a “1+1” discussion. Ignatiev cited “security reasons,” which Chiveri described as false, noting that officials from the left‑bank of the Dniester regularly visit the capital without incident.
Chiveri said the meeting was intended to inform Tiraspol representatives about the implementation of the Convergence Fund and decisions on VAT and excise, aiming to create more favorable conditions for economic agents in the region. After the refusal, Chiveri reiterated the invitation and suggested alternative venues on the left‑bank – Râbnița, Dubăsari or Grigoriopol – for a future round of talks.
