Metro de Santo Domingo and Venezuela face electrical service disruptions

In the Dominican Republic, the Metro de Santo Domingo experienced a service interruption on Line 2 due to an electrical failure at the García Saleta substation. The fault, which caused a loss of power in the catenary, occurred between the Pedro Bonó and Ramón Cáceres stations. The Empresa Metropolitana de Transporte (EMT) implemented partial services and provided free transportation across all lines as compensation for the affected passengers. During the incident, some reporters faced tension with CESMET security agents while covering the situation.

In Venezuela, widespread electrical instability continues to impact multiple regions. Reports indicate severe voltage fluctuations and outages affecting Caracas, Miranda, La Guaira, and several interior states including Zulia, Lara, and Carabobo. Joel Segura, president of Fedecámaras Lara, warned that persistent power shortages and failing public services are major obstacles to industrial and commercial growth in the country.
