Transport infrastructure and financing updates in Peru and Venezuela
In Peru, the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Public Transport Infrastructure (Ositrán) reported on its 2025-2026 management progress. President of the Board, Verónica Zambrano Copello, stated that of the USD 22,008.5 million in contracts under supervision, USD 14,089 million (64%) has been executed. In 2025, investments totaling USD 1,326.3 million were carried out, primarily in railways, airports, highways, and ports. The agency is currently supervising 35 concessions, including the Huancayo-Huancavelica Railway.
In Venezuela, the National Urban Transport Fund Foundation (Fontur) is developing a plan to provide financing and technological tools for transport workers. Vice President Katiuska Aponte announced that Fontur is working with Bancamiga to develop a mobile application designed to facilitate financial operations and simplify administrative procedures for drivers. These initiatives aim to improve banking access through partnerships with financial institutions and the Banco Digital de Trabajadores (BDT).
