Transport services face challenges in Mexico and Paraguay

In Mexico, the Secretary of Communications and Transport, Araceli Martínez Acosta, reported complaints regarding taxi services during the Feria Nacional Potosina (Fenapo). The reported issues included overcrowding of passengers and poor treatment by operators. While the department monitored social media and citizen service channels, Martínez Acosta noted that formal complaints remained low, with fewer than five recorded. She emphasized the importance of monitoring passenger numbers to safeguard physical integrity.

In Paraguay, César Ruiz Díaz, president of the Centro de Empresarios de Transporte de Pasajeros del Área Metropolitana (CETRAPAM), warned of a potential collapse in the metropolitan passenger transport system. Ruiz Díaz criticized the Viceministerio de Transporte for failing to update the fare structure for approximately nine months, despite highly dynamic operating costs. He noted a significant discrepancy between current fuel prices and the values used in the official tariff structure. While warning that more companies could face bankruptcy, he stated that a strike is not currently planned.
