Transport strikes and protests reported in Alicante and La Plata
In Alicante, Spain, interurban bus services are facing a strike on September 24. To maintain essential connectivity, minimum services have been established for several key routes. Affected lines include connections between Alicante and various municipalities such as San Vicente del Raspeig, San Juan de Alicante, Mutxamel, and El Campello. Major hubs, including the University of Alicante and the Hospital de Sant Joan, will see modified schedules and reduced frequencies.
In La Plata, Argentina, taxi drivers held protests and street closures to demonstrate against ride-sharing applications like Uber and DiDi. Protesters, supported by unions, marched toward the Municipal Palace to demand stricter local government controls over what they characterize as “illegal transport.” The demonstrators cited a loss of income and unfair competition from platforms that they claim do not adhere to the same technical controls, insurance requirements, and tax obligations as traditional taxi services.
