Transport strikes threaten Puglia flower industry ahead of All Saints' Day

Transport strikes and road blockades in the Foggia and Andria-Corato areas are threatening the floriculture sector in Puglia, Italy. Coldiretti Puglia has warned that logistics delays could prevent flowers from reaching markets in time for All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.

Because the products are highly perishable, any delay beyond early next week could result in the loss of entire production cycles. This poses a significant economic risk to the 853 flower-growing companies in the region, particularly those shipping to Northern Italy.

Puglia is a major national hub for the industry, producing 10% of Italy's chrysanthemums, 34% of carnations, 23% of roses, 13% of gerberas, and 16% of freesias. Key production districts include Salento and the Bari area.
