Transylvania ranked as top global Halloween destination for 2026

Transylvania has been named the number one Halloween destination for 2026 in a global ranking by Travel And Tour World, surpassing Derry in Northern Ireland and Salem in the United States.

To celebrate the ranking, Bran Castle in Romania will host a nine-day event titled “The Legend of Dracula” from October 24 to November 1, 2026. The program is structured around lunar phases, featuring different experiences ranging from daytime visits with actors and special effects to an intense nocturnal route on October 31 and family-oriented activities on November 1.

Europe holds a significant presence in the top 50 list, with 24 destinations featured. Other notable locations include Prague, Copenhagen, and Paris. The ranking highlights a growing trend in seasonal tourism where travelers seek out medieval castles, folklore, and immersive historical experiences.
