Trapani Calcio stays in Serie D after failed Serie C reinstatement

Italian club Trapani Calcio will compete in Serie D for the 2026/27 season after the FIGC council confirmed the team was not readmitted to Serie C. President Valerio Antonini, who earlier spoke of a "miracle" in a "dramatic moment," announced a 16‑player overhaul featuring many youngsters, including Dario Maltese and several 2008‑2009‑born prospects.

The club has appointed Pasquale Lo Giudice as sporting director and Salvatore Aronica as head coach. Because of a dispute over its home ground, Trapani will play its home matches at the Velodromo in Palermo, forcing weekly travel for supposedly "home" fixtures. Antonini reiterated his resolve, saying “Io non mollo, di un centimetro.” The strategy now focuses on building a squad capable of winning promotion from Serie D.
