Trapani Calcio to move home matches to Erice
Trapani Calcio is relocating its home matches to the Mokarta field in Erice following a security ruling in Palermo. The decision comes after the Prefect of Palermo, Massimo Mariani, issued an ordinance banning ticket sales and requiring all Trapani matches at the Paolo Borsellino Velodromo to be played behind closed doors.
The Prefect cited potential public order disturbances and the intense rivalry between Palermo and Trapani supporters as the primary reasons for the restriction. In response, club president Valerio Antonini announced that the team will move its home games to Erice to better serve the local community and address fan dissatisfaction regarding the club playing outside its home city.
Antonini stated his intention to invest in the Mokarta facility to upgrade it for Serie D requirements. However, due to bureaucratic delays, the team cannot use the new field for their season opener against Vibonese on September 6. Antonini expects the club to be playing in Trapani by the time they face either Igea Virtus or Reggina.
