Trapani Diocese proposes permanent working group for water management
The Diocese of Mazara del Vallo has proposed the creation of a permanent working group to address water management issues in the province of Trapani. The initiative was introduced by Don Francesco Fiorino, director of the diocesan office for social problems, labor, and the safeguarding of creation, following a meeting in the Matarocco district of Marsala.
The group aims to address critical water shortages affecting western Sicily, including infrastructure deficiencies, network leakage, and supply difficulties for both families and businesses. Key objectives include collecting local reports, studying methods to rationalize water consumption, and developing proposals for infrastructure improvements.
Don Francesco Fiorino intends to involve a wide range of stakeholders, including representatives from the provincial water authority (Ato idrico) and the Diocese of Trapani, to ensure public decisions regarding this vital resource are shared and discussed with the local community.
