Trapani inaugurates new TPS1 waste landfill basin

The Contrada Borranea landfill in Trapani has inaugurated its new TPS1 basin, a development intended to address the local waste emergency. Managed by Trapani Servizi S.p.A., the basin is designed for non-hazardous waste and is expected to reduce the need for transporting refuse outside the province, thereby lowering costs for local municipalities and citizens.

Mayor Giacomo Tranchida stated that the ultimate goal is to reduce the TARI waste tax by cutting transport and disposal expenses. Future plans for the site include the potential construction of a second landfill with a 600,000 cubic meter capacity and the development of a waste technology hub through a projected 39 million euro investment.
