Trapani official criticizes new Sicilian landscape regulations
Salvatore Quinci, president of the Libero Consorzio Comunale di Trapani, has expressed strong concern regarding new regional landscape regulations in Sicily. The criticism follows the issuance of departmental decree no. 25 on June 10, which modifies the technical implementation rules of regional landscape plans.
Quinci argues that the changes create significant uncertainty for businesses, particularly in the marble sector of Custonaci and the broader construction industry. He noted that companies that have already invested resources, planned projects, and initiated authorization procedures based on previous rules may now face unexpected regulatory hurdles.
The marble industry is already facing economic pressures from international market dynamics and rising costs for energy and raw materials. Quinci emphasized that the new provisions regarding land use and urban, infrastructural, and industrial works lack adequate safeguard clauses for ongoing processes, potentially compounding existing economic difficulties.
