Trapani port drug bust: 1.5 kg hashish, 235 g cocaine seized

Italian finance police (Guardia di Finanza) arrested a man at the port of Trapani while he was boarding a ferry to Pantelleria. A search of his backpack uncovered about 1.5 kilograms of hashish and 235 grams of cocaine. The authorities say the drugs were intended for distribution on Pantelleria ahead of the tourist season, with a potential street value of more than €50,000.

The suspect was detained in flagrante delicto for illegal possession and trafficking of narcotics. The case remains in the preliminary investigation phase, subject to the presumption of innocence until a final judgment is rendered. The operation is part of the Guardia di Finanza’s ongoing effort to monitor maritime checkpoints and curb drug trafficking in the province of Trapani.
