Trapani President to visit Ruggieri high school over space shortages

Salvatore Quinci, president of the Libero Consorzio di Trapani, has announced an upcoming visit to the Liceo Scientifico Pietro Ruggieri in Marsala. The visit aims to meet with students, teachers, and administration to address critical infrastructure issues reported by the school.

Students at the Ruggieri institute have highlighted several challenges, including a lack of space, incomplete construction work, and the necessity of using afternoon shifts to accommodate all classes. They also noted that laboratories have been converted into standard classrooms to meet daily needs.

In response to these concerns, Quinci presented a 2027-2028 school plan that maintains the autonomy of local scientific high schools and avoids budget cuts. While the visit addresses the Ruggieri's needs, no immediate decision has been made regarding a separate request from the nearby Pascasino-Giovanni XXIII institute. That school has requested an internal passage through the Ruggieri courtyard to improve student movement between sites, a proposal the Ruggieri student committee has clarified is not a conflict between the two schools, but rather a concern that such a passage would further reduce their own available educational and sports spaces.
