Trapani: Two tourists die following sudden illness within 48 hours

Two separate incidents involving sudden illness have resulted in the deaths of two tourists in the Trapani area within a 48-hour period.

On the morning of August 21, a 49-year-old Austrian tourist collapsed at the Liberty Lines ferry terminal in the port of Trapani. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts by emergency medical personnel, she died at the scene. The woman had recently arrived from the Egadi Islands with her husband and was planning to continue her journey to Palermo.

This follows the death of a 68-year-old Ukrainian tourist on August 20. She suffered a sudden medical emergency while swimming off the coast of San Giuliano, in the territory of Erice. Authorities have noted that while the two events occurred close together in time, there are currently no elements linking the two cases.
