Trash Mountain film premieres at Toronto International Film Festival

The indie comedy-drama Trash Mountain, starring comedian Caleb Hearon and Zooey Deschanel, recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film, directed by Kris Rey, follows Gavin, a young man from Chicago who returns to his rural Missouri hometown following the death of his father to reconnect with his sister, Abbi.

Produced on a shoestring budget over 18 days, the project includes producers Colin Trevorrow and Lilly Wachowski. Deschanel expressed that the character-driven nature of the script motivated her desire to return to the type of indie filmmaking that defined the early stages of her career. Hearon, who also co-wrote the film, portrays a version of himself in the loosely autobiographical story.
