Travel agencies report growth and optimism for late 2026
Travel agencies are reporting optimistic outlooks for the final quarter of 2026, driven by autumn long weekends and upcoming Christmas holidays. José Manuel Lastra, president of CEAV, noted that the sector is seeing active demand, which will be tested during the upcoming Pilar holiday weekend.
For shorter three-day trips during October and November, Spain and Portugal are the most sought-after destinations. As the season moves into December, travel patterns are expected to shift toward European capitals and longer-distance destinations.
Despite geopolitical instability in the Middle East affecting long-haul bookings during the second quarter, the sector maintains positive growth. Data through July shows a year-on-year increase of 4% for agencies, with an overall growth of nearly 7% so far this year.
